PURETH disposable cytology brushes are used through the endoscope working channel to brush and collect cell samples from the respiratory and digestive tracts. The range covers bronchoscopy to colonoscopy and ERCP — 1.8mm sheath for narrow channels and 2.4mm sheath for standard channels, with working lengths from 1200mm to 2300mm and brush heads of 2, 3 and 4mm.

The brush is a protected (sheathed) design: the dense nylon bristle head stays retracted inside the outer sheath during passage, is advanced at the lesion to collect cells, and is withdrawn back into the sheath before removal. This keeps both the brush head and the sheath surface free of passage-route contamination and delivers a concentrated cell yield ready for smearing — ideal for rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) in interventional pulmonology. A thumb-ring and slider handle gives one-hand control of brush extension and rotation.

Key Features

  • Contamination-protected sheath — the bristle head retracts into the outer sheath during passage and withdrawal, shielding both the brush and sheath surface from non-target contamination.
  • ROSE-ready cell yield — dense, fine nylon bristles gather a high, concentrated cell load that smears cleanly onto a slide for rapid on-site evaluation and adequacy checks.
  • Three brush sizes — 2 / 3 / 4mm bristle heads to match lesion size and sampling area.
  • Narrow & standard channels — 1.8mm sheath (≥2.0mm channel) and 2.4mm sheath (≥2.8mm channel).
  • Long reach — 1200 / 1600 / 2300mm working lengths for bronchoscopy, gastroscopy/ERCP and colonoscopy.
  • One-hand slider control — thumb ring and push-pull slider extend, retract and rotate the brush smoothly for precise targeting.
  • EO sterile, single use — individually packaged; no cross-infection, no reprocessing labor.

FAQ

What is a protected (sheathed) cytology brush and why does the sheath matter?

A protected cytology brush keeps the nylon bristle head retracted inside a protective outer sheath while the device passes through the working channel. At the target the brush is advanced to collect cells, then withdrawn back into the sheath before removal. This shields both the bristle head and the outer sheath surface from contamination along the passage route, so the recovered cells represent the target lesion — important for accurate bronchial, biliary and GI cytology.

Can the brush support ROSE (rapid on-site evaluation)?

Yes. The contamination-protected design and dense nylon bristles deliver a concentrated, clean cell yield that can be directly smeared or rolled onto a glass slide for rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) during interventional pulmonology and EBUS/TBNA procedures, helping the team assess specimen adequacy in the room and decide whether additional passes are needed.

Which BC-L model fits my scope and working channel?

Match the outer sheath diameter to your working channel: the 1.8mm sheath models (BC-L2-18-1200 and BC-L3-18-1200) suit channels of about 2.0mm or larger, while the 2.4mm sheath models (BC-L4-24-1600 and BC-L4-24-2300) suit channels of about 2.8mm or larger. Choose brush diameter by target size (2/3/4mm) and working length by procedure: 1200mm for bronchoscopy, 1600mm for gastroscopy/ERCP and 2300mm for colonoscopy or long-route access.

Is the cytology brush sterile and single use?

Yes. Each brush is individually packaged and sterilized with ethylene oxide (EO) for single use only, eliminating cross-infection risk and reprocessing labor.

What certifications and export documents are available?

PURETH products are manufactured in accordance with the ISO 13485 quality management system and hold Class II registrations for the domestic market from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of China. Export documents, free sale certificates, and specific market certificates (such as CE) will be provided or confirmed during the order phase; please inform us of your destination country and model list.

RESPIRATORY

Bronchoscopy & ROSE

1.8mm sheath × 1200mm models (channel ≥2.0mm) for protected bronchial brushing; the clean cell yield smears directly for rapid on-site evaluation.

INTERVENTIONAL PULMONOLOGY

EBUS / Lesion Adjunct

Used alongside EBUS-TBNA to supplement needle aspirates with brush cytology, improving diagnostic material from hilar and mediastinal targets.

GI / ERCP

GI & Biliary Cytology

2.4mm sheath in 1600mm for gastroscopy/ERCP biliary and pancreatic-duct brushing, and 2300mm for colonic and long-route sampling (channel ≥2.8mm).
